Brad Myers has been riding since he was four years old. From 1964-1977 Brad spent a great deal of time with his grandfather, Clifford “Sandy” Sanderson, legendary horseman and blacksmith, known throughout the Great Lakes region. He devoted most of his time working horseback on farms and ranches in Michigan and Colorado. It was during this childhood that Brad realized his natural gift with horses to “speak” their language. His grandfather, who was known as a “horse whisperer” long before the phrase became so popular, enhanced the belief that you need to communicate to horses in order to have a willing relationship and partnership. This was so removed from most training methods during that time period, where fear based methods were taught to achieve training goals.
At the age of 18, Brad began to pursue even more training about horses with his Uncle, a PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association) cowboy. Brad continued to hone his listening skills by working with his Grandfather and Uncle. Brad also attended college and completed his first two years. From the ages of 23-30 Brad served with the United States Marine Corps and received numerous awards and promotions. After the Marines, in 1990, Brad moved to Colorado and worked in the corporate world. By 1993 Brad completed his Bachelors degree in Organizational Management at Colorado Christian University. While attending school, Brad worked full time and even worked on several ranches to keep him involved in the horse world.
From 1993-2002, Brad continued to work with horses on a part time basis, while maintaining his corporate position. During this period Brad started colts and worked with restart horses, traveling to clients in Michigan, Kentucky, Washington, Wyoming, and Colorado. Brad also enhanced his skills by attending clinics with the infamous Buck Brannaman, Marty Marten, Kathy McClarrinon, and Craig Cameron.
In 2002, Brad traveled to the Ancient pyramid ruins of the Toltec civilization in Mexico as the culmination of a 2-year apprenticeship with Master Toltec teacher Ray Dodd. While in Mexico Brad had a vision of teaching The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz, with the horses.
Also in 2002, Brad's part-time clients grew to the point where he needed to make a decision. With the encouragement of his horsemanship clients, mentors Buck Brannaman and Marty Marten, and his Spirit guides from both the Lakota nation and the Toltec civilization, Brad left the corporate world and embarked on the journey of teacher, trainer, and clinician.
In 2003, at the age of 43, Brad held his first horsemanship clinic. From that clinic to the present, Brad's clients have ranged from novice horseman, Westernaires, 4-H, competitive horseman in reining, western pleasure, cattle working, versatility ranch horse, hunter/jumper, and Grand Prix dressage.
Now living in Conifer, Colorado, Brad’s passion for excellence in horsemanship and life has led to the development of his teaching programs called The Wisdom of the Horse™. This exciting series marries his grass roots natural horsemanship style with the tradition of “The Four Agreements”, from the best selling book by Don Miguel Ruiz, and “The Power of Belief” by his mentor, Ray Dodd. Brad provides an authentic experience of discovery designed to foster greater awareness of what we really believe and how we create obstacles to getting the results we want. Through the ability of the horse to teach and Brad's ability to communicate the wisdom of what the horse is saying, participants learn how to create new empowering agreements with themselves, gaining tools that cultivate leadership skills, greater self-esteem and effective communication.
